THE IDEA
The word says blue. The ink is red.

When the meaning of a word conflicts with its ink colour, naming the ink can take extra focus. This mini-quiz is a playful demonstration, not a clinical or scientific assessment.

THE IDEA BEHIND THE QUIZ

Meet the Stroop effect

The Stroop effect is the extra effort it can take to name the ink colour of a word when the word itself names a different colour. Reading is so automatic that the word can compete with the colour you are trying to name.

This quick challenge mixes matching and mismatching word–ink pairs. Pick the ink colour, not the word. Your score is just for fun: it is not a clinical measure of attention or cognitive ability.
